How it all got started

After living in China for over a decade, I decided it was time to share the stories and adventures of passionate individuals who are shaking things up in Asia. Throughout the clutter, and mostly scary stories of food and wine in China, I wanted the rest of the world to hear what’s really going on in Asia, so in 2016 I started Bottled in China Podcast

Emilie Steckenborn

Currently based in Hong Kong, Emilie Steckenborn has lived in China for over a decade working with some of the largest wine and drinks importers, distributors, and brands to develop their brand awareness and distribution across Asia.

She is the host and creator of the Bottled in China podcast which she founded in 2016, to share the stories and adventures of passionate individuals in the F&B scene who are shaking things up in Asia. Starting in 2020, it expanded to include a global trend perspective, hosting

conversations with F&B thought leaders and business leaders around the world. With over 170 episodes, Bottled in China has been featured in Air Canada’s inflight entertainment systems and named one of the best podcast on China.

Emilie has cultivated her palate by gaining Diploma and Certified Educator from WSET, Certified Sommelier from CMS, and HEG Certificate from Cordon Bleu. Currently preparing for her Master of Wine examination, her passion for wine recently brought her closer to the winemaking side of the business crafting top Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Santa Barbara, California.

Awarded top 50 future influencers and listed top 50 most influential women in the global wine and spirits industry, she has worked with numerous top beverage brands and hotel groups to develop and train their front-line staff across Asia.
